Ann and I both kept a journal. Since we did not have access to a computer, we could not post in this journal. I decided to recall what each day was like!
Day one was really two days. Our flight was leaving from Washington Dulles Airport around 6PM on 10/15. We finally went to bed at 10:48 10/16. Ann and I had some errands to run and we headed to Pine Street. The office was crazy. Many had gathered to assemble the binders for the training. I was hoping to have some quiet time at home. My husband was bringing home subs for lunch. I was almost an hour late getting back home. We ate the subs and Charlie arrived. He said that Dennis' Visa was delivered to the wrong place. Needless to say, we got a late start. Highlights of that day included the additional fees to check the boxes of manuals, the LONG security line, and running after Dennis through the airpot as Charlie was calling during the chase (Dennis' red shirt became a distant dot at that point). The flight from Austria to Russia was flight number 601 (do residential programs still identify themselves by the address?) which to me was a neat thing. Our luggage did not make it to Moscow when we did. They only thing that made it was the case with Dennis, camera equipment. We were told it would be on the next flight in, so we waited at the airport. We not only got to meet the "famous" Masha, but also her father.
I think we got to the hotel around 7. Ann and I had to pay for the room, so we split the bill on our credit cards. We arrived at our room (it was 907!!!! for those of you that remember the first office). It was quite different than any hotel we have stayed in the US but it was comfortable. We have thanked Jeanine several times for her hint of bringing home sheets. I swear it helped us get to sleep at night.
I remember feeling like a kid seeing the new sights. We could see the Foreign Ministries building (it was about a half a block away)and many neon signs out of our window. Our days were planned out and I was excited for each day. Comments
