Helping in Beslan

"atmosphere during training" by Ann on December 6, 2004, 4:03 pm, in category General
The general atmosphere was somewhat quiet when we began the training. The people from Beslan did speak about their concerns that they were told to tell parents during the first day of the takeover that "everything will be alright". When everything was not alright, the psychologists felt as though the family members blamed them for being dishonest. We all know there ws no way anyone could have known the outcome initially. The psychologists were looking for some additional assistance in help for the community. They felt isolated and betrayed. We really tried not to go any further than what the people felt comfortable discussing. We did not ask many questions, but rather listened to them. So the atmosphere varied from time to time during our training. Thanks for the question and I hope if that did not totally answer what you had in mind, please let me know. Also, they were very concerned that they would be forgotten. We are trying to be as good as our word and continue working on things from our end.
